Worksop Town v NFU (Evo Prem)

Worksop Town 4-1 North Ferriby United

North Ferriby remain in the play-off places despite suffering a second successive defeat at the hands of Worksop Town, who overcame the Villagers 4-1 at Cannon Park to keep their own slim play-off hopes alive.

2-0 down at half-time, Ferriby were desperately unlucky not to have one goal at the very least to show for their first half efforts, coming agonisingly close to finding the net on several occasions. The first of these came just minutes into the game, when Kyle Hadley sent a ball across goal which Gary Bradshaw could not quite get onto the end of to tap into the empty net. The hosts grabbed the lead with their first chance of the game on 9 minutes; Sam Duncum's corner was cleared as far as Chris Bettney, who curled the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the box. Russell Fry then looked almost certain to put Ferriby level when he met Bradshaw's corner at the far post, but headed over from point-blank range. Again, this near miss was shortly followed by a Worksop goal. On 18 minutes, Matt Young whipped a ball into the box which eluded the Ferriby defence and Luke Beckett stuck out a foot to divert the ball past a stranded Steve Wilson. Wilson's opposite number Jon Worsnop then blocked a shot on the turn from Bradshaw, and later deflected a Wayne Brooksby effort round the post for a corner with the winger through on goal, while Young hit a post for Worksop.

Early in the secondt half Worksop gave Ferriby a mountain to climb when Duncum added a third, latching on to Luke Shiels' long ball and firing low past Wilson after mis-hitting his original effort. Beckett then lobbed a loose ball onto the roof of the Ferriby net, but the away side remained determined to keep themselves in the game. Having seen his earlier half-volley from a Fry cross caught by Worsnop, Bolder gave Ferriby some hope on 71 minutes, when his deflected shot slipped through the keeper's hands and over the line. However, the game was settled in the home side's favour six minutes later, Ben Tomlinson latching onto Bettney's through ball and slotting through the legs of the onrushing Wilson.
