Winterton Rangers v NFU

Winterton Rangers  1   North Ferriby United   1

This was another testing friendly for The Villagers with a late Gary Bradshaw goal earning them a draw.

Ferriby had most of the play in the opening 20 minutes but they only really created one significant opportunity whn John Leonard shot narrowly wide.

Somewhat against the run of play Winterton took the lead after 21 minutes. A Rangers' free kick was unfortunately headed into the top corner by Ben Morley past Ferriby keeper Ben White.

Ferriby continued to control the game but most of the play was largely in midfield.

A Wayne Brooksby shot was deflected by home keeper Jack Ward's legs for a corner. From the corner, Paul Foot beat Ward to the ball but his header went just over. The half closed with a Russell Fry shot which went straight to Ward.

Ferriby went close three times in the opening five minutes of the second-half. Bradshaw's header brought a diving save from Ward then Bradshaw had an acrobatic shot that went just over the bar. Mark Greaves also went close with a header.

The game then became largely played in midfield again with limited opportunities for either side.

Danny Frost's dipping shot went narrowly over for Winterton.

There was an almighty scramble in the Winterton penalty area but the ball would not fall for Ferriby player to get in a shot.

Liam Slack broke through for Winterton but his shot went straight to White. Shortly after, the keeper made a good diving save from Rob Start. White quickly released the ball downfield and after an initial shot was blocked Bradshaw picked-up on the rebound to shoot past Ward.

A draw was the least Ferriby deserved for their performance.

The downside for Ferriby was an injury to Russell Fry which saw him taken to hospital with a possible fracture to his foot.
