Vauxhall Motors v North Ferriby United
Rivacre Park, Ellesmere Port
Tuesday 12th October 2010 Kick-off 7.45 pm
Ferriby travel to Ellesmere Port on Tuesday FA Cup Replay against Vauxhall Motors of the Blue Square Bet Conference North. The Villagers may have gone in to Saturday's match as underdogs but their performance more than matched their higher placed opponents.
Ferriby travel with some confidence after Saturday's result. After an even first half, The Villagers dominated the second half. A magnificent fightback from two goals down was the very least they deserved as they exerted endless pressure on Vauxhall.
Ferriby's manager Neil Allison commented "I was pleased with Saturday's performance. We did well to come back from being two goals down and we did enough to have won the game. Once again the team played good football. We have to be confident of getting a win on Tuesday."
Saturday's side showed a number of player and positional changes due to injury and this makes the performance and result even more special. Once again, Ferriby gave another all-round team display. The highlight of the match was obviously Russell Fry's wonderful solo goal which drew Ferriby level.
Vauxhall like to play open football and often looked dangerous on the break. Once Ferriby got into their stride, especially in the second half, the visitors were always struggling to prevent Ferriby's fluent football creating chances.
It was an entertaining game in front of Ferriby's largest crowd of the season. As Allison commented, "It would be great to play in front of a crowd like that each week. The atmosphere was great."
Allison should have an almost full squad to select from on Tuesday. Sam Denton and Ben Turner both played the full 90 minutes on Saturday after being originally doubtful.
Probable Ferriby Squad: Steve Wilson, Ben Hallam, Ben Turner, Tom Matthews, Sam Denton, Kevin Larvin, Paul Harsley, Chris Bolder, Ben Morley, Russell Fry, Gary Bradshaw, Alex Davidson, Wayne Brooksby. Chris White, Gareth Owen,
