Retford United 1-2 North Ferriby United
North Ferriby battled through difficult conditions to come away with all three points from bottom of the table Retford United. In a game played in wind and rain on a poor pitch, goals in either half from Gary Bradshaw and Chris Bolder proved enough for the Villagers to avenge the surprise defeat they suffered at the hands of the strugglers at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium back in September.

On an already bobbly Cannon Park pitch made very slippery by the afternoon's rain, the hosts were the first to come close, when Steve Burton had to clear a deflected effort by Steve Owen off the line. Steve Wilson in the Ferriby goal then did well to push a low angled drive from Ryan Hindley round the post. Chris Bolder had a golden chance to put Ferriby ahead when Bradshaw steered a Russell Fry through ball into his path, but the midfielder fired wide from point-blank range. At the other end, Sam Foulds' 30-yard blast looked destined for the top corner until rising above the crossbar at the last moment. After firing a cross-shot narrowly over the bar, the in-form Bradshaw put the visitors ahead on 41 minutes, running onto Peter Davidson's through ball and calmly rounding the keeper to stroke home.

In the second half the rain returned with a vengeance and the pitch began to deteriorate further, but Ferriby still managed to stamp their authority on the game. The Villagers hit the bar early in the half when Bradshaw slid onto a Chris White ball, and the second arrived on 64 minutes when a blocked effort from Bradshaw was latched onto by Bolder, who more than made up for his earlier miss by half-volleying sweetly into the bottom corner. Bolder could have set up a third but no one was able to latch onto his ball across goal, and Bradshaw slid another White pass wide of the post. Instead Retford grabbed a consolation in the final minute, Michael Blythen cut inside from the left and beat Wilson with a low shot into the bottom corner, but the points remained safe.
