Northwich Victoria 1-1 North Ferriby United
North Ferriby came from a goal down at half time to secure a valuable point away at fellow promotion chasers Northwich Victoria. The match saw club captain Paul Foot make his 200th league appearance for the club.
The game was played in driving rain, which made flowing football difficult for both sides during the first half as they adapted to the conditions. Just minutes into his milestone game, Foot made a vital clearance off the line from Northwich's Wayne Riley. Tony Evans also came close for the home side with a half volley on the turn, and Gary Bradshaw had Ferriby's best chance of the opening half hour when he curled a free kick just wide. Northwich opened the scoring on 33 minutes when a deflection bounced to Dominic Collins, who beat Steve Wilson with a low, placed shot. Bradshaw nearly had Ferriby level when he met Russell Fry's cross with his head at the near post, but was just wide, and another header from Steve Burton crashed against the side netting from Sam Denton's free kick.
In the second half the rain subsided slightly both sides put together some attractive attacking play. Bradshaw had the first chance for Ferriby, racing onto Chris Bolder's through ball and forcing home keeper James Spencer to parry his first-time effort. At the other end, Wilson pulled off a smart save when he caught Evans' header from Graeme Law's cross at close quarters, and again when Riley's cross took a deflection off Foot. The Ferriby equaliser arrived through a well-executed move on 78 minutes; substitute Ben Turner chased a loose ball down the left flank and volleyed in a cross and Bradshaw beat his marker and raced in at the far post to convert.
In a lively final ten minutes, Alex Davidson carried the ball from half way to the edge of the box, only for Spencer to gather his low drive, and Spencer later thwarted the same player when he got onto the end of a Bradshaw through ball. Davidson could have sealed all three points with the last kick of the game when he slid onto Chris White's long ball, but the effort was just wide of the far post.
