FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round sponsored by Eon
North Ferriby United v Vauxhall Motors
Rapid Solicitors Stadium.
Saturday 9th October 2010 Kick-off 3.00 pm
Ferriby turn their attention to the FA Cup on Saturday when they entertain Vauxhall Motors of the Blue Square Bet Conference North. The Villagers will no doubt be underdogs for the match as they are a division below Vauxhall. However, it is a good opportunity for Neil Allison's squad to measure themselves against a team from the division that is Ferriby's next promotion target.
Ferriby will not be lacking in confidence against a team that is on the fringe of the relegation zone in Conference North. Allison commented "I am looking forward to the game. Vauxhall know they will get a tough game when they come here. They like to play football, as we do, and it should be a good game. Hopefully there will be a decent crowd to encourage Ferriby."
Allison was pleased with Tuesday's win at Stocksbridge Park Steels; "We played some excellent football, putting in a good performance and getting the right result." Once again, Ferriby's attractive and incisive attacking football created a number of chances. It was also a gutsy and determined performance against a Stocksbridge side keen to avenge their FA Cup defeat of 10 days earlier. In a somewhat physical encounter an Alex Davidson goal just before half-time sealed the points.
Ferriby's passing game causes problems for all their opponent with plenty of chances being created. Whilst people perhaps focus on Gary Bradshaw and Davidson as the main goal scorers, goals are being scored by players throughout the team, always a bonus to any side. It would be good for the team's enterprise on the field to be rewarded by increased crowds at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium.
Allison has injury worries ahead of Saturday's match with Paul foot, Paul Ellender, Ben Turner and Chris White definitely out. There are further doubts over Alex Davidson and Sam Denton who both picked-up injuries at Stocksbridge. Michal Jacklin is also unavailable as he is cup-tied.
Former Ferriby defender Steve Burton has returned from Australia but will be unable to play unless his international clearance from the Australian FA comes through before Friday lunchtime.
Probable Ferriby Squad: Steve Wilson, Ben Hallam, Tom Matthews, Sam Denton, Kevin Larvin, Paul Harsley, Chris Bolder, Ben Morley, Russell Fry, Gary Bradshaw, Alex Davidson, Wayne Brooksby. Gareth Owen, James Williams, Ryan Levesley
