NFU v Mickleover Sports

Evostik League Premier Division
North Ferriby United v Mickleover Sports
Monday 3 January 2011 Kick-off 3.00 pm

Ferriby entertain Micklover Sports in the first home match since 13 November. It will be Mickleover's first visit to the Rapid Solicitors Stadium. In the first meeting between the two clubs Ferriby won a close match 4-3 at Mickleover in August.
After so long without a home match, The Villagers will be hoping for a large Bank Holiday crowd, as football starved fans look for a match. With Hull City at Portsmouth it is an opportunity for City fans to support another local side. The style of football Ferriby were playing before the enforced break was both exciting and entertaining and is well-worth watching.
This will be the second game in three days and will be test of the players' fitness after only one two games in 6 weeks. Manager John Anderson has obviously kept the players training but as he says, "Training is no substitute for matches and it is always frustrating when you can't play as that is what the training is obviously geared to.

Ben Turner's loan period from Mansfield Town which finished on New Year's Day has been extended and he will be available to play. The unexpected return of Peter Davidson from Australia also means he will be part of the squad. The departure of Tom Matthews to Australia will provide an opportunity for long-serving Ben Morley to gain a regular starting place in defence. Anderson says of Morley, "He is a tremendous and versatile player and I am sure he will take full advantage to stake a regular spot in the defence." Morley's versatility has meant he has often played to cover injured and suspended colleagues rather than having a regular position.
Y

oung James Williams, a product of the Club's development programme, will be a regular member of the First Team squad for the remainder of the season as Anderson shows his willingness to put faith in his younger players. As Anderson comments, "James has made a limited number of appearances in the first team. He is a talented player who has the ability to develop into a very good player as he gains more experience. Like Ben, I am sure he will make the most of the opportunity."

Probable Ferriby Squad: Steve Wilson, Ben Hallam, Ben Turner, Paul Foot, Steve Burton, Sam Denton, Kevin Larvin, Paul Harsley, Chris Bolder, Peter Davidson, Ben Morley, Russell Fry, Alex Davidson, Gary Bradshaw, Wayne Brooksby, Chris White, James Williams, Gareth Owen
