NFU v Marine

Evostik League Premier Division
North Ferriby United v Marine
Saturday 2 April 2011 Kick-off 3.00 pm

Ferriby entertain sixth-placed Marine at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium on Saturday in a vital Evostik Premier Division promotion battle

Ferriby remain in third place following the midweek fixtiures. Wenesday's draw at Buxton was a well-deserved result and The Villagers were unlucky not to take all three points after a superb all-round team performance.

Wednesday's side had 7 first-team squad players missing but the quality of the performance in terms of skill and commitment belied this. Keeper Adam Nicklin made his League debut for the Club and gave a confident display behind a well-organised back four that included loan signing Dan Wilkinson from Hull City. With Buxton resorting to an aerial bombardment the defence were rarely given any serious worries.

Ferriby's midfield closed down on Buxton and, at he same time, created springboard for the Villagers own attacks. Russell Fry did a tremendous job up-front, holding the ball and creating space for himself and Kyle Hadley, a new signing from Harrogate Town.

It was Hadley who came closest to scoring on the night when a close range shot hit the inside of the post and travelled across the line before being cleared. Had that won the match, it would have been no mre than Ferriby deserved.

As is often the case at this time of the season, the pitch was somewhat uneven and caused strange bounces but Ferriby just played their normal brand of passing football. Not for the first time season, opposing fans were highly complimentary of the Ferriby's approach.

As he left the pitch, Buxton manager John Reed said to Ferriby Chairman Les Hare "You have great team."
Manager John Anderson commented, "I am delighted with the result and the performance. The players showed tremendous commitment again and with a little luck we may have had all three points."

Gary Bradshaw sits out Saturday with the second of his two match suspension. Steve Wilson is available again. On the injury front, Ben Morley and Chris White are still out. Alex Davidson, though not fully fit was on the bench on Wednesday and may start there again against Marine. Sam Denton will hopefully have recovered from his injury and Kevin Larvin, a late drop-out through illness at Buxton, may also be fit to play.

Possible Ferriby Squad: Steve Wilson, Adam Nicklin, Ben Turner, Paul Foot, Dan Wilkinson, Sam Denton, Paul Harsley, Kevin Larvin, Chris Bolder, Peter Davidson, Russell Fry, Wayne Brooksby, James Williams, Alex Davidson, Kyle Hadley, Luke Thompson, John Leonard
