Evostik League Premier Division
North Ferriby United v Hucknall Town
Saturday 5 March 2011 Kick-off 3.00 pm
The Villagers take on relegation threatened Hucknall Town at the Rapid Solicitors' Stadium on Saturday. It is certain to be another tough fixture with both sides needing he points for different reasons.
The Villagers are currently second in the table, their highest ever position in the Club's history. They are in a strong position to clinch a play-off place for the second consecutive season but Manager John Anderson will take nothing for granted, "We are taking things one game at a time. The players have worked hard to get there but there is a long way to go."
Hucknall won the reverse fixture earlier in the season but their form has dipped since then. Ferriby go in to the match with four straight wins behind them, with 12 goals scored and only two conceded. Whilst Gary Bradshaw leads the way again in the goal scoring stakes, goals have come from throughout the team and to some extent this takes some of the pressure off the strikers.
Ferriby went second following two excellent away wins against promotion rivals Colwyn Bay and Bradford Park Avenue last weekend. The performances left Chairman Les Hare delighted, "I am full of admiration for the players. To put in two wonderful performances against good teams on their own grounds in 48 hours says a lot not only for the players' fitness but also for their mental toughness and commitment. I am also delighted for John Anderson who has worked hard to create this level of commitment in his players"
With Hull City away at Nottingham Forest, Saturday provides an opportunity for local football fans to go to the Rapid Solicitors' Stadium and support Ferriby in their promotion push.
Apart from Alex Davidson who may be out for another week as he recovers from his medial ligament injury Anderson should have a virtually full squad to choose from.
Possible Ferriby Squad: Steve Wilson, Adam Nicklin, Ben Turner, Paul Foot, Steve Burton, Sam Denton, Paul Harsley, Kevin Larvin, Chris Bolder, Peter Davidson, Russell Fry, Gary Bradshaw, Chris White, Wayne Brooksby, James Williams, Luke Thompson
The East Riding Cup Semi-Final against Hull City has been brought forward to next Wednesday 9th March with a 7.30 kick-off at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium.
