North Ferriby United 4-0 Frickley Athletic
North Ferriby displayed their promotion credentials with a commanding performance as they fired four goals past ten-man Frickley Athletic at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium.
Ferriby set the tone early on, with Chris Bolder firing the home side ahead after just four minutes when he blasted home Russell Fry's curling free kick into the box from close range. The visitors then began probing for an equaliser, but found stern resistance from the Villagers' back line. Kevin Sanasy found himself with an open goal only for his shot to deflect wide off a Ferriby defender, and home keeper Steve Wilson was in fine form to block Matty Bloor's sliding effort at close quarters and smother from the feet of Sanasy when a Sam Denton slip had put the Frickley striker through on goal. After braving this period of pressure, Ferriby returned to their scintillating attacking play, and grabbed a second on 31 minutes when Gary Bradshaw twisted and turned in the box before providing Alex Davidson with an easy finish. Davidson could have added another before the break, but Frickley keeper Ben Simpson held onto the shot at the second attempt.
The game could have been decided in the hosts' favour almost instantly after the second half began, with Wayne Brooksby releasing Bradshaw through on goal only for the striker's sliding effort to strike the post. Frickley's chances of gaining anything out of the game looked to have gone out of the window on the half hour when a late tackle on Brooksby gave visiting full back Charle Fisher his second yellow card in as many minutes. Almost immediately afterwards, Simpson had to tip an effort from Bradshaw round the post after the frontman cut in from wide right, and Sam Denton had a cheeky lob disallowed for offside. The third finally came on 88 minutes when substitute Chris White crossed a Denton free kick into the path of Bradshaw who netted with a fine first-time shot on the turn. Fry then capped of the performance in added time with a thunderous low drive from the edge of the area after White's neat lay-off.
