NFU v FC United of Mcr (Evo Prem)

North Ferriby United 1-1 FC United of Manchester

A competitive, even game between two promotion-chasing sides saw North Ferriby share the points with FC United of Manchester at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium.  The visitors, willed on by over 250 travelling supporters, took the lead in the final ten minutes of the first half through a Sam Denton own goal, but were pegged back by Chris Bolder's header, the midfielder's eighth league goal of the season, midway through the second period.

Ferriby instantly looked sharper going forward than they had during Saturday's defeat to Northwich Victoria; FC United keeper Sam Ashton had to push away Alex Davidson's ball across goal before Gary Bradshaw could connect, and pulled off a fantastic save when he changed direction at the last minute to tip Bradshaw's header round the post from Wayne Brooksby's cross.  Nicky Platt had a great opportunity to open the scoring for the visitors but shot harmlessly wide from Matthew Wolfenden's cross; and Jerome Wright was pounced on a mis-hit clearance by Ferriby keeper Steve Wilson, but shot wide with only the backtracking Wilson to beat.  On 37 minutes FC made the breakthrough; Wolfenden aimed a cross towards Mike Norton at the far post which Wilson tried to palm away, but the ball took an unlucky ricochet of Denton's shoulder and into the net.  Ashton later denied Bradshaw by slide-tackling the stirker as he was through on goal.

Denton nearly scored at the right end early in the second half when Ashton caught his looping header from Russell Fry's free kick, and another Fry set-piece would lead to the equaliser on 58 minutes.  The midfielder's curling ball into the box was flicked by the head of Paul Foot for Chris Bolder to power a header into the centre of the goal.  Ashton later denied Davidson a potential winner when he caught the striker's stinging shot on the turn, and Wilson gathered a low drive from Wright.  Wright would have the final chance of an equaliser when substitute James Holden sent him clean through, but the frontman lashed his shot across the face of Wilson's goal and wide.
