NFU v Bradford City

North Ferriby United 1  Bradford City 5

Football League Division 2 Bradford City were the visitors to Grange Lane for The Villagers' second pre-season fixture.

Ferriby come close to opening the scoring when Russell Fry hit a 20 yard shot against the underside of the bar, the ball bouncing out to the keeper. Immediately afterwards Bradford keeper Saxton fumbled the ball to Sam Denton who  just failed to score with his shot across goal. Bradford broke quickly from the resulting goal-kick and interpassing between Omar Daley and Sims gave Daley the chance to firs a cross-shot past Steve Wilson.

The remainder of the first half was end-to-end. Matthews almost scored with a drive following A Russell Fry cross. Gareth Owen's 20 yard drive was turned for a corner by a diving Saxton. Just before half-time Fry's 25 yard drive went just over with the keep.er beaten

Bradford had their moments.  Wilson saved at Neilson's feet, Sam Denton's last-ditch tackle prevented Sim getting-in a shot when in a good position and Sim was also foiled by a diving save by Wilson.

Bradford fielded a completely different side in the second whilst Ferriby's Neil Allison also rang the changes.

Bradford took control of the game with three goals in the first ten minutes of the second half. In the 47th minute Morris scored following a good move by Bradford. Four minutes later the same player was given space to score from the edge of the area. In the 55th minute Oliver played in Hanson who lifted the ball over Ben Hallam in the Ferriby goal to score.

Despite the score line, Ferriby continued to play some neat attacking football. In the 60th miniute Ged Dalton had a header saved on the line by by   Bradford keeper  Jon McLaughlin. Ferriby finally   pulled a goal back in the 65th minute when McLaughlin could only parry Gareth Owen's shot towards Gary Bradshaw who shrugged off a defender to score.

There were few chances after this as the game continued to flow. In the 84th minute, Evans scored Bradford's final goal following some lax defending.

Despite the score-line, Manager Neil Allison will have found a number of positives in the game, especially in some of the attacking play.
