NFU v Ashton United (Evo Prem)

Evostik League Premier Division
North Ferriby United v Ashton United
Saturday 30th  October 2010 Kick-off 3.00 pm

Ashton United  visit the Rapid Solicitors Stadium on Saturday. Like The Villagers, they are in a mid-table position but with only seven points separating Northwich in second place and Marine in 13th,  a couple of wins can significantly change a club's position. Victory for Ferriby on Saturday would, at the very least, see them swap places with Ashton.

Ferriby manager John Anderson was pleased with his team's victory over Stocksbridge on Tuesday when a last minute Alex Davidson goal saw Ferriby deservedly gain all three points. Once again, it was a slightly frustrating evening as chances were created through Ferriby's expansive football but good goalkeeping and some desperate defending were mainly responsible for keeping the goal tally down.

As at Marine on the previous Saturday, late goals show the tremendous spirit and commitment that this Ferriby team has. As Anderson commented, "The players have to learn to be patient, be brave and retain their confidence when their dominance and control of a game isn't necessarily getting the goals they deserve. We played some very good football against Stocksbridge and fully deserved to win the game. The attitude of the players is what we have come to expect from Ferriby teams and it is something that we aim to keep."

Looking towards the Ashton United fixture Anderson commented, "Ashton have been playing well and had a good result last Saturday. They like to play football and may come and play an open game rather than just defend in numbers."

With the exception of Club skipper Paul Foot, who has now resumed light training, Anderson has a full-squad to choose from:

Probable Ferriby Squad: Steve Wilson, Ben Hallam,  Ben Turner, Steve Burton, Tom Matthews, Sam Denton, Kevin Larvin, Paul Harsley, Chris Bolder, Ben Morley, Russell Fry, Gary Bradshaw, Alex Davidson, Wayne Brooksby, Chris White, Peter Davidson
