NFU 8 Hessle SC 0 (ERSC)

North Ferriby United 8-0 Hessle Sporting Club
North Ferriby United began their defence of the East Riding Senior Cup in dominant fashion, plundering seven second half goals past Hessle Sporting Club to seal an 8-0 victory at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium.

The first half was one of frustration for Ferriby, with the Evo-Stik Premier side bossing their Humber Premier League opponents, but finding themselves restricted to a single goal advantage at the break. Gary Bradshaw had the first of many chances, chipping over the bar after rounding Hessle keeper Stephen Fox. Fox made several good saves to keep the scores level, catching low from Alex Davidson and then tipping round the post when the same player found himself one on one. James Williams and Bradshaw also found themselves thwarted by Fox later in the half, but the breakthrough finally came on 41 minutes, when Bradshaw stepped over Chris White's ball across goal allowing Chris Bolder to sidefoot home.

In the second half the floodgates well and truly opened as the visitors tired and Ferriby made their class count. Kevin Larvin doubled the visitors' advantage on 50 minutes when White's through ball left him with only Fox to beat and the defender slid the ball beyond the stranded keeper. Hessle's best attack followed shortly afterwards, with home keeper Ben Hallam smothering from the feet of Scott Richards as he tried to run onto Gareth Wray's through ball, but Ferriby's third arrived on 58 minutes when Bradshaw's ball across left Russell Fry with a simple finish. White got the fourth on 73 minutes, tapping home when Fox couldn't hold Alex Davidson's shot, Davidson himself added the fifth a minute later after rounding the keeper, and Bradshaw finally got himself on the scoresheet when he lobbed Fox from a loose ball on 77 minutes. White's second made it six on 85 minutes, beating the Hessle defence to a loose ball after Fox saved from Fry, and Tom Matthews completed the rout from the penalty spot after he had been brought down by Danny Carver.
