North Ferriby United 7-0 Malet Lambert YC
8 Feb 20111
North Ferriby sailed comfortably into the semi-finals of the East Riding Senior Cup with a comprehensive 7-0 victory over Humber Premier League side Malet Lambert at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium, which saw Alex Davidson and Gary Bradshaw each grab a hat trick.
The visitors had the first attempt on goal, Luke Beeston firing straight at Ferriby keeper Adam Nicklin from a move which began from the kick-off, but after12 minutes the home side were ahead with a sublime move that emphasised the six-division gap between the two sides; nine consecutive passes culminated in Chris Bolder playing in Alex Davidson to slot cooly into the bottom corner. Dave Constable in the Malet goal kept the scores at 1-0 when he caught Bradshaw's far post header from Kevin Larvin's lob, and Malet had chances of their own from Beeston and Brad McKay, but they couldn't stop Davidson grabbing his second on 37 minutes; played in again by Bolder, the striker cut in from the wing and beat Constable with a left-footed drive. His and Ferriby's third would follow just three minutes later, Bolder was tripped in the box by Chris Hunt and though Constable blocked Davidson's initial penalty, he couldn't stop him tapping home the rebound.
More good goalkeeping from Constable kept Ferriby from adding to their advantage early in the second half, with Chris White and Wayne Brooksby both having efforts blocked, and Sam Denton had a header cleared off the line. Shaun Chadburn had by far the best chance of the game for Malet when he blazed over the bar from point-blank range. The Malet defences were finally breached again on 63 minutes when substitute Luke Thompson crossed for Bradshaw to slide in, and Larvin's pull-back presented Bolder with a fifth just one minute later. Bradshaw equalled his strike partner's feat of three goals in 45 minutes in the final third of the half, putting away a penalty on 82 minutes after he had been pushed by Sam Hawksworth, and he found the top corner four minutes later after being played in by Brooksby.
