North Ferriby United 5-2 Stocksbridge Park Steels
North Ferriby prevailed in a terrific cup tie at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium, with five of the seven goals coming in an electric first half.
Stocksbridge began the goalscoring in earnest on 11 minutes when the Ferriby defence stood still and Mark Ward beat Steve Wilson with a volleyed lob from the edge of the area. After Stuart Ludlum had cleared off the line from Alex Davidson, Sam Denton put the home side level on 28 minutes when he headed in Chris White's corner. Jack Muldoon drew Stocksbridge level just five minutes later with a low drive Wilson couldn't hold on to, only for Ferriby to restore parity just 1 minute later through Chris Bolder's header from a Kevin Larvin cross. Alex Davidson nudged Ferriby ahead three minutes before the break, sliding onto the rebound after keeper Adam Ogden blocked his initial effort.
Wilson's goalkeeping kept Ferriby ahead in the early going of the second period, with the veteran catching both Ludlum's free kick and Muldoon's overhead effort. Shortly after he had missed an open goal, it was Bolder who gave Ferriby breathing space on 76 minutes when he ran onto Alex Davidson's perfect ball into the box and side-footed home. Two minutes later the game was put beyond doubt when Ogden tripped substitute Gary Bradshaw in the box and Paul Harsley converted the penalty.
