North Ferriby United 3-0 Salford City
North Ferriby booked their place in the next round courtesy of a scintillating seven-minute hat-trick from Alex Davidson, extending their winning run to five games in the process.
The home side were desperately unlucky not to take the lead in the opening 20 minutes, when Salford keeper Chris Howarth palmed away a Nathan Peat effort and Gary Bradshaw slammed the rebound against a post. Bradshaw also saw a goal disallowed for offside as the first half ended scoreless.
Danny Heffernan could have put the visitors ahead early in the second period, firing Scott Metcalfe's cross-field ball wide from point-blank range, while at the other end the impressive Howarth did well to thwart Bradshaw at close quarters after he had been played in from Paul Harsley. After Heffernan fired wide again for Salford from Adam Morning's flicked header, Davidson took over in the final 20 minutes. His first arrived on 74 minutes when he beat Howarth to Wayne Brooksby's centre at the near post. Three minutes later, Chris Bolder played in Davidson to stylishly turn and fire into the top corner from 20 yards to double his and Ferriby's tally. The hat-trick was complete nine minutes from time, the striker applying an almost identical finish to his second strike, this time having cut inside from wide left.
