Doodson Sport League Challenge Cup Semi-Final

North Ferriby United  3  Kendal Town  0

The occasion seemed to get to both teams in the first half with clear chances few and far between. Play was fairly even and neither keeper was seriously bothered until the 24th minute. Kevin Leadbetter's cross found Gary McEvatt in the six yard box but his effort was well-saved by home keeper  Adam Nicklin.

Ferriby's first serious attempt on gioal came after 33 minutes when danny Clarke fired narrowly wide from 18 yards.

Kendal replied immediately but Leadbetter's shot went straight to Nicklin. Osman then had a header narrowly over following a free kick.

Ferriby's response was a good move down the right which ended with Russelll Fry's low cross being cut-out by Kendal keeper Craig Dootson.

As Ferriby manager Billy Heath said, "Kendal probably shaded the first half. We didn't really pass that well but displayed a lot of character."

Ferriby started the second-half brightly with Clarke and Bradshaw combining well for Bradshaw to shoot wide. Clarke then had a shot blocked by Dootson.

The game turned in the 50th minute when Kendal's George Melling was sent off for a second caution after fouling Clarke.

The match was pretty much one-way traffic after this with kendal's only serious effort of the half being two shots by Leadbetter which Nicklin saved well.

Ferriby took the lead in the 62nd minute when good inter-play between Brooksby and Clarke saw Bradshaw score past the advancing Dootson.

Brooksby went close before Ferriby went two ahead in the 68th minute. Bradshaw's shot was blocked and Clarke was the first to respond and force the ball home.

Four minutes later Clarke had his second goal when he hit home a looping half-volley from 20 yards.

Ferriby continued to press and could have scored more but for Kendal keeper Dootson.

This was a thoroughly deserved victory for Ferriby.

Heath was "massively pleased with the win. It's a great result. It's good for the players and the club. We now need to go out and beat Rushall in the final. That will then be the first piece of silverware for the Club at this level."
