North Ferriby United 1-0 Worksop Town
By Graham Riley
Managerless North Ferriby progressed to the next round after edging out Worksop in a tight encounter at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium.
The home side came close in the opening minutes when striker Gary Bradshaw curled a half volley just over from the edge of the area, and the same player later had a deflected free kick caught by visiting keeper Jon Worsnop. Worsnop's opposite number Steve Wilson was called into action when he gathered a Michael Whitwell free kick low at his near post, before Worsnop ensured the scoresheet stayed blank at half time when he punched over Bradshaw's dipping 25-yard free kick.
The second half was just three minutes old when Ferriby seized the advantage; a Bradshaw free kick was flicked on by Russell Fry, and Harrogate loanee Greg Wright found the bottom corner for his first Ferriby goal. Soon afterwards, Worsnop pushed over a free kick from Sam Mulready, and Worksop substitute Sam Duncum kept Wilson on his toes by forcing the Ferriby stopper into a save at close. Fry and Bradshaw combined for the latter to fire agonisingly across goal as the game entered its final third, while at the other end Wilson smothered Jamie Jackson's dangerous cross-field ball from the feet of Adam Muller. Bradshaw had one final chance of doubling Ferriby's advantage in the dying minutes, with another free kick pushed away by Worsnop.
