North Ferriby United 0-0 Burscough
North Ferriby drew a blank for a third successive league game as bottom club Burscough came away from the Rapid Solicitors Stadium with a vital point, while the hosts stretched their unbeaten run at home to five games.
The away side had the first of the game's many near misses in the opening 10 minutes, Will Jones rounding Ferriby keeper Steve Wilson to tap into an empty net, only for centre half Gregg Anderson to make an excellent saving clearance off the goal-line. With the strong wind on their side, Ferriby laid siege to the Burscough goal for the remainder of the half. A dipping 25-yard lob from Russell Fry bounced off the crossbar, Paul Harsley hit the post direct from a corner and visiting keeper Craig Ellison did well to hold onto a downward header from Paul Foot.
Ferriby's pressure continued after the break; Danny Clarke heading a Wayne Brooksby cross narrowly over. With the wind now on the visitors' side, Wilson pulled off a pair of smart saves to prevent Burscough snatching all three points late in the game; first pushing clear from Jones after he fired stylishly on the turn from Karl Gornell's cross, then acrobatically holding onto Gornell's follow-up when Jones' effort from Ben Whitcombe's corner was blocked.
