North Ferriby United 0-2 Bamber Bridge
By Graham Riley
North Ferriby suffered their second cup heartbreak of the week as they were edged out of the FA Trophy by Bamber Bridge at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium courtesy of second half salvo from Alistair Waddecar.
The home side had the majority of the opening chances, Ben Hinchliffe caught Wayne Brooksby's looping inward ball in the Bamber goal, then recovered to smother from Gary Bradshaw as the striker looked to round the keeper. Both sides had a header cleared off the line, Tom Matthews coming to Ferriby's rescue to clear Peter Wright's effort from Waddecar's corner, and Hincliffe tipped away Sam Denton's effort from Russell Fry's flag kick.
Bamber started sharpest in the second period, and took the lead on 51 minutes when Waddecar latched onto Hincliffe's free kick and neatly chipped Steve Wilson in the home goal. Wilson did well to block Luke Atherton's header from Neil Black's cross, but could do nothing to stop Waddecar grabbng his second on 65 minutes when the winger shot on the turn from Wright's flick-on. Brooksby curled over from the edge of the area for Ferriby, and Bradshaw had a spectacular bicycle kick blocked in the goalmouth by Atherton, but Bamber held on to take a deserved victory.
