Match preview
Evostik League Premier Division
Nantwich Town v North Ferriby United
Saturday 9th April 2011 Kick-off 3.00pm
Ferriby travel to relegation threatened Nantwich Town on Saturday for a match that is vital to both clubs.
Nantwich began the season as one of the favourites for promotion but they have struggled for much of it and have gone into freefall in recent weeks. With Retford definitely relegated and Ossett Town probably also doomed Nantwich are one of five teams separated by five points who could join them
Ferriby's disappointing 4-1 defeat at Worksop Town on Wednesday saw the Villagers remain in fourth spot in the Evostik Premier Division. However the six teams behind them are now in a position to overhaul Ferriby if they can win their matches in hand. It is going to be a nailbiting finish to the season with Ferriby really needing to finish with four victories.
Wednesday's scoreline was rather harsh on Ferriby as they created a number of good scoring opportunities that they failed to take.
The quality of Ferriby's football this season certainly deserves to be rewarded with a play-off place but the side could end-up regretting their home form which has seen them lose eight times.
A spate of injuries has also played its part in recent matches. Last Saturday saw the Club without a single fit or available striker. A number of the players are carrying injuries and are having to play through them as Ferriby chase their promotion goal.
Manager John Anderson will certainly be telling his players that promotion is still possible and he will expect his side to lift themselves for the game at Nantwich.
Defender Sam Denton is still suspended and Alex Davidson and Chris White are out with injuries. Ben Morley remains doubtful, also due to injury.
Possible Ferriby Squad: Steve Wilson, Adam Nicklin, James Williams, Ben Turner, Paul Foot, Dan Wilkinson, Paul Harsley, Kevin Larvin, Chris Bolder, Peter Davidson, Gary Bradshaw, Russell Fry, Wayne Brooksby, Kyle Hadley, Luke Thompson, John Leonard
