Evostik League Premier Division
Marine v North Ferriby United
Saturday 23rd October 2010 Kick-off 3.00 pm
New Manager John Anderson takes his team to Marine on Saturday for what is certain to be a testing match.
Last week was a difficult and disappointing one for Ferriby, going out of two cup competitions and Neil Allison announcing that he was resigning as Manager to take up a new non-football job in Australia. The quick appointment Anderson, who was of Allison's assistant, to the Manager's post provides the Club with continuity and also shows the Club's belief in Anderson's ability to continue to develop the football side of the Club.
Anderson said, "Neil's departure fills me with a mixture of delight and sadness. I am sad that he is leaving the club but, at the same time, delighted for the opportunity that he and his family will have in Australia. Neil will be a big act to follow. He has achieved a great deal at Ferriby in the last three years, taking over a dispirited side facing relegation and turning them into serious promotion contenders."
"I am looking forward to taking-on the Manager's role," Anderson continued. "Having worked with the players for the last three years we all know each other and the players know what I expect of them. Our training methods and playing style will not change and we will all be trying to continue taking the Club forward."
With regards to the Marine match, Anderson commented, " Marine are always a hard team to beat and with on-form top-scorer Jamie Rainford they will provide a tough challenge for us. They have been a strong club for many years and, like Ferriby, they hope to be striving for promotion at the end of the season. However, we will be confident on Saturday and try to play our normal passing game."
With the exception of Paul Foot (hernia) and Paul Ellender (ankle ligaments), Anderson should have a full squad to select from on Saturday.
Probable Ferriby Squad: Steve Wilson, Ben Hallam, Ben Turner, Steve Burton, Tom Matthews, Sam Denton, Kevin Larvin, Paul Harsley, Chris Bolder, Ben Morley, Russell Fry, Gary Bradshaw, Alex Davidson, Wayne Brooksby. Chris White, Peter Davidson
