FA Youth Cup 3rd Qualifying Round

Ryan Wood's close range goal in the 47th minute gave Ferriby's youth team a fully deserved victory at Mossley.

The first 15 minutes were all Ferriby with Mossley restricted to sporadic attacks. In the 16th minute Paul Wray's 30 yard shot was well-held by home keeper Nick Howard just under his crossbar.

Six minutes later Wray came close again after a good move down the right.

Mossley replied with keeper Luke Kinsley having to be alert to keep put long-range shots from Nat Martin and Omar McKenzie.

Ferriby continued to control the first half and created a number of half-chances. However, the goal they deserved just would not come.

The second half opened with Ferriby pressing once again. Scott Benson's corner was headed goalward by Jamie Hanson but Howard tipped the ball over for another corner. Benson again made a good delivery and Wood was on hand to bundle the ball over the line from close range.

Benson had an opportunity to clinch the game ten minutes later when Jamie reasons low cross found him unmarked at the far post but he was unable to get his shot on target.

This seemed to spur Mossley and they came more in to the game. The introduction of Brian Totto gave them some added pace and he troubled Th e Villagers defence all the way to the final whistle.

Kinsley again saved well from McKenzie's free-kick and then was equal to Jake Hibbs' shot.
