Chorley 2-0 North Ferriby United
Play-off chasing Chorley consigned North Ferriby to their first defeat of 2012 as they edged out the Villagers at a windswept Victory Park.
Ferriby could have taken the lead inside the opening seconds when the returning Nathan Peat flashed a dangerous ball across the Chorley box, which Chris Bolder stretched to meet but was unable to get a telling touch. Instead it was the hosts who seized the advantage on 12 minutes; Ali Brown's cross was skilfully knocked into the path of Chris Denham by strike partner Steve Foster, and Denham beat Steve Wilson with a low drive into the bottom corner. Paul Harsley could have drawn the Villagers level on the half hour mark when his shot from the edge of the area deflected fractionally wide, and Anthony Lloyd prevented Chorley from adding to their lead when he cleared Andy Teague's shot off the line from Tom Ince's corner.
Billy Heath's visitors began the second period in desperate search of an equaliser. Chorley centre half Wayne Maden nearly had the ball in his own net when he got a foot to Kevin Larvin's deep cross, the ball only just clearing the cross-bar. Ferriby saw influential midfielder Russell Fry stretchered off in the final fifteen minutes, a second injury blow of the game for the Villagers after skipper Paul Foot had limped from the field twenty minutes into the first half. Foster later headed Denham's cross wide, and Sam Denton inadvertently sealed the points for the Lancashire side in added time when he beat Matt Walwyn to Ahmadi Proya's cross, only to fire beyond a stranded Wilson in his efforts to clear.
Man of the Match: Chris Denham (Chorley)
