Burscough v North Ferriby United
Evostik League Premier Division
Saturday 28th August 2010 Kick-off 3.00 pm
North Ferriby travel to Merseyside to play Burscough. Usually a difficult team to beat, the home side will be smarting from beginning the season with two defeats. The Villagers will be boosted by their thrilling win at Mickleover Sports in midweek.
Ferriby's produced some delightful flowing football at Mickleover and thoroughly deserved their win. They were particularly dominant in a second half played in persistent rain which made the playing surface difficult. Chris Bolder and Russell fry had good games in midfield and Chris White, Wayne Brooksby and man of the match Gary Bradshaw caused no end of problems for the Mickleover defence.
Assistant Manager Anderson commented, "It was a good performance against a team with a very good home record. We controlled the second half and deserved to win.
He continued, "Burscough will be an equally difficult game on Saturday as they will be looking for their first win of the season. The players showed tremendous character on Tuesday and I will be looking for the same on Saturday.
It is almost impossible to predict the season's final placings after only two rounds of games but the early indications are that this season's Evostik Premier Division will be just as difficult to win as last season with everybody seemingly capable of beating everybody else.
Sam Denton continues his suspension. But with no injury worries, Anderson should have a virtually full squad to choose from.
Probable Ferriby Squad: Steve Wilson, Ben Hallam, Ben Turner, Tom Matthews, Paul Foot, Paul Ellender, Kevin Larvin, Paul Harsley, Chris Bolder, Ben Morley, Russell Fry, Gary Bradshaw, Alex Davidson, Peter Davidson,Ged Dalton, Chris White, Mark Whitehouse, Wayne Brooksby
