Barton T OB v NFU

Barton Town Old Boys 1  North Ferriby United 2

The Villagers gained their first pre-season victory with a 2-1 victory over local rivals Barton Town OB. The Villagers had to work hard for the win and Manager Neil Allison will once again be quietly pleased with his team's overall performance. The only cloud on the evening was an apparent ankle injury to Peter Davidson.

After a fairly cautious opening by both sides, The Villagers almost opened the scoring after 10 minutes when Gary Bradshaw had a shot cleared off the line. Barton immediately replied with a Rob Hall shot just cleared Steve Wilson's bar.

Ferriby started to exert more pressure and after Chris White had shot narrowly wide Chris Bolder opened the scoring on 20 minutes, heading home after Dave Bramley could only parry Bolder's original shot.

Ferriby's persistence paid-off in the 41st minute when Mark Hulme, making his first appearance for the club, headed home a Chris White corner despite appeals by Barton for a foul by Hulme.

Barton made a number of changes at half-time. Ferriby should have increased their lead after 50 minutes. Chris Garth fouled Chris White to concede a penalty. However, the usually reliant Gary Bradshaw clipped the outside of the post with his shot.

Both sides continued to make a number of substitutions and play become somewhat disjointed. Play was end-to-end but neither side created any really clear-cut chances. Matty Fyvee pulled a goal back for Barton after 65 minutes when he was played in to place his shot past Steve Wilson.

Both sides continued to press for goals with Gareth Owen and Ged Dalton going close for Ferriby. Ben Hallam  made a good last minute save to thwart Matthew McKay and guarantee Ferriby a win that, overall, was deserved
